A Little More Information...

Welcome to my website! I hope my work bring you enlightenment, joy, and inspiration. If you would like to learn a little bit more about me please read on…
I am a seeker—of knowledge, of wisdom, of truth. I am also a creative soul who deeply savors the process of making poetry and reveres the intuitive gems that are uncovered during the creative process. Because my interests span many areas, I’m always looking for connections across disciplines and ways in which all of these seemingly unrelated areas are connected by an underlying truth. Poetry is a way for me to express the truth as I come to know and feel it.
Poetry is how I make sense of the world, of my own complex and deep emotions, of the mundane and the extraordinary. It is an exploration and an expression. It is a vast undertaking and a gentle offering.
One of my first memories is of being in a library and feeling amazed by the towering stacks of books lining the walls. I was about three years old and of course was not capable of cognizing the reason I felt what I was feeling but I knew, in whatever way a three year old can, that books were really important to me, that they meant something, that I should pay attention to them, that they were part of my purpose in this life or at least would somehow lead me to a place I was meant to go.
As a young child I kept journals filled with scribbles. When I learned how to write, the scribbles became words. Perhaps because I was a very shy child and adolescent, writing was a way for me to express my thoughts and feelings when I was too afraid or overwhelmed to speak. So I spoke to the page and I savored its liberating influence.
Writing became a way to express the inner complexity and depth of feeling that was difficult to process and understand as a child and adolescent. It wasn't until college that I "grew into myself", so to speak, and I had spent much of my life prior to that feeling like an ugly duckling. But writing always brought me a feeling of comfort and empowerment. It still does, but as I keep maturing, my writing evolves and becomes more multi-faceted. I love that process -- how it evolves and unfolds in new and exciting ways.
As a child I was also incredibly fascinated with the night sky—the stars, the moon. Few things brought me more joy than gazing at the moon and its beautifully mysterious pale silver glow. I still love doing this and I am glad that I have retained a kind of childlike wonder into my adulthood about all the little things that are too easy to take for granted. In fact, this child-like wonder is the driving force of any creative pursuit.
I still enjoy stargazing because it is both humbling and empowering. The endless depths remind us how small we are in comparison, but because we are part of those endless depths they also remind us of how expansive we are. The cosmos is my eternal muse. I believe we all need to feel connection with something bigger than ourselves and to find a deeper meaning in which we can ground ourselves. We need to live our purpose and we each have a different purpose to fulfill. Poetry is part of my purpose and my calling in this life. Although no two paths are identical, we all experience universals like heartbreak, joy, love, and loss. Art, music, and poetry are expressions and reflections of our universal experiences.
My work often includes cosmic imagery and spiritual undercurrents. I write to express myself and to reflect how we, as human beings, learn the difficult lessons we came here to learn and ultimately awaken to the things that truly matter in life. Writing is cathartic, healing, and a profound way to process difficult experiences and savor joyous ones. It is the way my soul speaks to me, the way I connect with something bigger than myself—something that feels sacred. It enlivens me. It challenges me. It humbles me. Each poem is truly a labor of love.
Thank you!
